Electron-phonon coupling in a two-dimensional inhomogeneous electron gas: consequences for surface spectral properties

چکیده
We investigate the coupling of an inhomogeneous electron system to phonons. The properties of an electronic system composed of a mixture of microscopic ordered and disordered islands are changed fundamentally by a phonon mode. In high-Tc cuprates, such a phase separation scenario is supported by recent STM and nuclear quadrupole resonance studies. We show that even a weak or moderate electronphonon coupling can be sufficient to produce dramatic changes in the electronic state of the inhomogeneous electron gas. The spectral properties calculated in our approach provide a natural explanation of the low-energy nodal ARPES features and exhibit a novel non-Fermi-liquid state stabilized through electron-phonon coupling. Spectral properties of the t-J model in the presence of hole-phonon interaction.
We examine the effects of electron-phonon interaction on the dynamics of the charge carriers doped in two-dimensional (2D) Heisenberg antiferromagnet. The t-J model Hamiltonian with a Fröhlich term which couples the holes to a dispersionless (optical) phonon mode is considered for low doping concentration. The evolution of the spectral density function, the density of states, and the momentum d...
متن کاملQuasiparticle properties of a coupled quantum-wire electron-phonon system.
We study leading-order many-body effects of longitudinal optical (LO) phonons on electronic properties of one-dimensional quantum wire systems. We calculate the quasiparticle properties of a weakly polar one dimensional electron gas in the presence of both electron-phonon and electron-electron interactions. The leading-order dynamical screening approximation (GW approximation) is used to obtain...

The quasi two-dimensional electron gas on a metal film can transmit to the surface even minute mechanical disturbances occurring in the depth, thus allowing the gentlest of all surface probes, helium atoms, to perceive the vibrations of the deepest atoms via the induced surface-charge density oscillations. A density functional perturbation theory (DFPT) and a helium atom scattering study of the...

Electron-phonon coupling parameters are calculated for La2-x BaxCuO4 cuprate superconductor in a wide range of dopings, from undoped to overdoped compounds. In this study we aim to study the quality of such calculations based on DFT method so, the results of σ GGA+U electronic structure calculations are also investigated. The obtained value for electron-phonon coupling is in the same order of p...
متن کامل2 00 4 Dynamical Exchange Effects in a Two - Dimensional Many - Polaron Gas
We calculate the influence of dynamical exchange effects on the response properties and the static properties of a two-dimensional many-polaron gas. These effects are not manifested in the random-phase approximation which is widely used in the analysis of the many-polaron system. Here they are taken into account by using a dielectric function derived in the time-dependent Hartree-Fock formalism...
